The disease of Morbid Obesity when left untreated can be devastating to both body and mind.  Morbid Obese individuals are often faced with, or eventually could face, significant “co-morbidities” that can affect every organ in the body. Co-morbidities are common medical conditions we have heard of. However the morbid obese individual is more likely to develop these conditions. Some of the “Co-Morbidity” conditions are as follows:

Heart Disease

High Blood Pressure

High Cholesterol

High Triglycerides

Diabetes Mellitus

Obstructive Sleep Apnea

Obesity Hypoventilation Syndrome

Respiratory Insufficiency

Heartburn- Reflux Disease and Nocturnal Aspiration

Gallbladder Disease

Stress Urinary Incontinence

Degenerative Disease of Lumbo-Sacral Spine

Degenerative Arthritis of Weight-Bearing Joints

Venous Stasis Disease

Blood clots in legs and pulmonary embolism

Menstrual irregularity

Psychological and Social Effects

As the number of co-morbidities increase so does the risk of premature death.
